World Famous Lello’s Bookshop

In May, a visit to the famous Lello’s bookshop in Porto, Portugal. The business was first established in Carmelitas Street in 1906 in a fabulous neo-gothic building and continues to attract visitors from all over the world. Once inside, you feel as if you are in some Harry Potter scene. Indeed, JK Rowling used to visit the store when she lived in Porto. Bustling customers, camera-wielding tourists and staff all compete for space in this book-lovers’ paradise, which seems to stock all categories, including English-language editions. Upstairs, there is a small coffee shop and reading area – a welcome respite for those tired by the cobbled streets of Porto.
